Soundbites: Red Jumpsuit Apparatus “Your Guardian Angel”
The airport always brings with it a sense of ambivalence – the sheer excitement and enthusiasm when you are dragging the oversized luggage bag down the hallways of Changi, and the impending sense of dread when you are sending someone off at the terminals. Somehow, there is always an aura of awakening when you witness people you care about walking through the glass panels, glancing over their shoulders and giving you a small smile.
Suddenly, things are not as what you knew them to be. Suddenly, you realise that people can leave you at a snap of a finger. Suddenly, you wish you can capture that small smile in the polaroid of your memories.
So it is not fun having to send off two of my close friends for their five month escapade to the Land of Dim Sums and the Land of Coconut Bras.
At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So instances where we all keep our distances and pretend not to care about each other, are usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we’ve chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much and how many times we hurt them, the people that are still with you at the end of the day are those are the ones worth keeping. And although sometimes close can be too close, that invasion of personal space can be exactly what you need.
